Artistic talent among our employees
An interesting thing, and an advantage, of working within a large company is that, among our employees who number nearly one thousand, there are a wide range of skilled and exceptionally talented colleagues. In previous years, the company band "Men in Leather" performed at the company Christmas party; this year we will have a DJ from among our fitters (David Daňa) and our colleague (Tomáš Frňka) will also appear playing dulcimer music.
Another one of our talented colleagues is Mrs. Jitka Strbačková, who devotes her free time to theater.
If you like culture, you will surely have noticed that Jan Honsa’s amateur theater company has been appearing in Karolinka for many years. In the past, the Wallachian audience has seen adaptations of plays such as Advent, Home, Bride, Labyrinth of the World, and Paradise of the Heart. The play Home even made it to the stage of the National Theater.
This year, under the direction of Miroslav Urubek, they put on the well-known work of Gabriela Preissová, HER STEPMOTHER. Originally an opera by Leoš Janáček, the premiere of this drama took place on Saturday, November 8, 2025 in Hovězí. The adaptation of the play was very original, the author sensitively combined the well-known story and the mood of a typical village of the time - the amazing acting performances were complemented by live music performed by members of the dulcimer band.

Jitka, who has been working in our company since 2005, literally took everyone's breath away. In the role of Kostelnička, a character who commits the worst act from fear of human condemnation, she showed us that, although in everyday life she is a cheerful and smiling human being, she can use her talent to portray such a demanding role perfectly. The atmosphere in the hall could be cut with a knife; very strong emotions could be felt from the audience. The cast truly managed to draw the audience into the story.
The success of the performance was, of course, the work of all members of the ensemble. Anyone who has ever experienced a form of teamwork knows well that not only the main roles, but also the supporting ones, including the helper (which our former payroll accountant, Zdenka Pinkavová, did for many years) are of extreme and irreplaceable importance. After the performance, the audience did not hesitate to show their appreciation for the outstanding performance with a long and enthusiastic standing ovation. It was also wonderful to find that a group of moved colleagues from work were waiting for Jitka after the play to show how proud they were of their friend.
Since I was lucky enough to be able to see the premiere, I would like to thank the entire cast and crew. I can't imagine how much work and energy it must have taken. I immensely admire their effort, considering that, even with such demanding professions as they all have, they are still able to exert so much strength and give joy to others.
And a recommendation for others? On November 28, 2025, you can see this play at the Village Hall in Nový Hrozenkov. I highly recommend it!
